The Mister with half a month's worth of grocery (SM City Cebu)

In our effort to be eco-friendly, we bring our own bags during grocery shopping to reduce the use of plastic bags. However in our case, instead of the regular eco-bags, we use our mountain bag. It’s huge, it’s convenient, and it’s badass. Half a month’s worth of grocery can be fit in that backpack. With this, we commend SM Supermarket for letting us in with our empty mountain bag despite this couple’s questionable appearance.

However, there’s this little mall in the south, a mall let’s call Gaisano Capital Tisa that is starting to get on my nerves every time we go for a quick purchase. I think I can burn them down with my glaring eyes, I tell you! But it’s one of the most accessible supermarket so we don’t have a choice if we need to buy immediate needs.

On the first attempt, a guard didn’t allow us to let our bag in. SCREW THAT. Second attempt, on a different day, I tried to explain. The guard still said no adding that it’s the company’s policy. SCREW THAT.  Third attempt: we brought the Habagat tote bag, which is still big can be folded. We got in but upon packing, that motherpacker insisted on using the plastic bags before he can put the items in the tote bag. SO, WHAT’S THE USE OF THE BAG WE BROUGHT? RIDICULOUS!

Calling Gaisano Capital Group! You need to have a sort of plastic conservation program through eco-bags. Yes, it’s an overused promotion but it’s really helpful. Really! Or at least, educate your employees on such awareness. Or better yet, change that god damn policy! If you don’t want to be a part of the green revolution or don’t want to take little, just little efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags until your mall blaze, leaving you with another insurance claim, then at least, let us do our own duty.

Ladies and gentlemen, here’s a rare treat! The guy-in-shirt-and-rugged-jeans looked decent for an occasion and it’s not his wedding.

The permanent roommate was invited to be one of the judges at the 32nd Cebu Popular Music Festival. Since it’s the highlight of his musical career (as how he puts it), we made every preparation possible. From getting the right fit of slacks, the best pair of shoes, and a stand-out barong from Harley Ruedas to plans of changing his hairstyle but decided to leave it as it is. The rock star image can always justify the unkempt hair.

They say it’s the tallest and biggest ferris wheel in the Philippines. Too bad, I wasn’t able to experience it due to the loooong queue. Well, whaddaya know, it was the January 1st crowd. My last memorable ferris wheel experience was in Enchanted Kingdom (2000). There’s the fresh air from the top, a view of the whole Sta. Rosa Laguna, and that crazy, crazy idea of jumping out of the gondola.

I said in a previous post that I enjoy the company of guys over girls. BUT this one is an exemption. There’s nothing I can do, I spent 4 years of my college life with this loud ladies and A GUY, straight guy.

Ladies with an appetite of a construction worker’s.
Ladies who don’t mind being caught by the camera at their most unpleasant angles.
And ladies who act like kids when they’re together.

From classrooms to big productions, to meetings and calling cards. From stage plays to life — cheers, Bamkwan!

Because this couple loves books, music, adventures, and unlimited rice.

The NBI Cebu City office is currently a jungle, a place where one can devour another once he cut the line. You have to be there the whole day for what? For another schedule, and surely a long queue. That is crazy shit. But off to a town called Tuburan, 96.7kms from the city proper, and you can acquire your NBI clearance fast and easy — just like what our local fastfood chains offer —  and eat a scrumptious dinuguan-and-liempo-meal at the nearby carenderia for lunch.

Tuburan is a good 2-hour drive from Cebu City. But it would take around 3 hours for a bus or v-hire en route to the said town. Travel time is longer than the actual NBI clearance processing but it’s better than standing under the scorching sun when you’re in the city. Plus, it’s good to see such greens along the way — a breather from the city’s hustle and bustle.

Tuburan can be reached via Transcentral Highway (in red line) for those who want to try cliff-edge driving, or via Naga (in blue) for the boring ones.

When "Yours Forever" sounds overly cheesy.

It all started with that little boy on TV. It was a Holy Week marathon and all we did was cry copious tears. We didn’t had any plans so we stayed home, watched that primetime TV series rerun, took a bath at 10PM, and drink all the beer deposit in the household. That cycle lasted for three days. We know, we can get that boring.

Yes, they still play — good, intoxicated, and wild.

Kids from previous generations would vividly remember Gumby, a clay humanoid character that ruled household entertainment for 35 years. And today, October 12, marks Gumby’s creator and stop motion animation pioneer Arthur “Art” Clokey‘s would have been 90th birthday.

Born in Detroit, young Arthur was adopted by musician Joseph Clokey, who then sent him to study drawing, painting, and film making. The early exposure to arts and his childhood hobby of playing with clay and mud mixture called “gumbo” paved the way to naming his most famous character, Gumby.

Art’s student film Gumbasia (1955), a homage to Disney’s Fantasia, that featured animated clay shapes caught the attention of prominent producer Samuel G. Engel who then financed Art Clokey’s The Gumby Show. The show ran from November 12, 1955 to December 30, 1989

At 88, Clokey died in his sleep on January 8, 2010, after suffering from a regular bladder infection.
